Yes, what DID happen to those MIDI files? I looked awhile back and
noticed nothing was in there.
Same with the MOD directory too, I think.

I also tried to get some more MIDI files yesterday and ran into the same
problem you did. I know EPAS had to cut back for space reasons, so I
tried the ORST site (since they're closer anyway.) But they had the same
stuff EPAS has. And wuarchive was down when I tried to check there. I
don't really know about the mail server or any of the other sites.

Subject: New Windows drivers?
Well,
Last night I installed the new Windows drivers and now nothing at all works.
I have tried everything I can think of. Can anyone help me?
When I load even a small MIDI file, it says that I don't have enough memory
for all the patches (and I have 1 MB). then when you play the song it
doesn't make any sound.
Actually, when I use the Midisoft sequencer it doesn't give me the low
memory message, but it still doesn't make any sound.
HELP!

Subject: Patch Cacheing?
Anyone know which Windows sequencers will support GUS patch cacheing?
I am about to buy Cubase because it has a competitive upgrade offer
from my Mac sequencer. But if I have to use some fluky tool before
loading every song....
I am still getting a handle on how this GUS really works in a sequencing
environment. Its still all very confusing to me. There are so many options,
emulators, utilities and so forth. I really wish some experienced GUS
MIDI user would post a summary of things to know about MIDI sequencing with
the GUS. How do the Patch banks work? What is patch cacheing? Which
sequencers support it? If they don't support it, then what do you do? How
do you have other patch sets besides the GM one that seems to come with the GUS?
ETc, etc, etc, etc, et,c......
Thanks in advance

Subject: Problems with the New Windows Drivers and Communication Programs
Has anyone else run into this problem?
When playing a midi file using the Media Player, WinJammer, Recording Session
or Animotion's Midi Player and when I'm downloading a file using zmodem,
compuserve-b, kermit or xmodem I get communication errors and then the
download times out. This did not happen when I used the older driver that
came with my gus (2.05).
I have had this happen with Procomm+ for Windows and WINCIM.
My pc has 1 16550 UART, communication programs and the Window serial port
is set to 38000+ baud. Buffer in Procomm+ for Windows is set to 16k.
The pc is a 486DX 33MHz with 20 meg of ram, a chinon 535 cd-rom, paradise
video accelerator (wd), logitech serial mouse. Driver are all current, i.e.,
latest.
I have tried running with the the prior releases of the drivers for my
vga card and mouse, the problem persists.

Could anyone tell me of any good FTP sites which carry .MOD, .669, and other
digital multichannel music? I know of a BBS that is very good (Music Connection)
but unfortunately it is long distance...
